Without a doubt, one of my favorite cars to drive, but not to maintain. They always remind me of the old song "Deadman's Curve". I once replaced the starter on a British sports car and realized all Brit mechanics must have very small hands.

Also, as I recall, they had Lucas electric systems an Lucas was called "The Prince of Darkness"

Here in the UK it was either called an 'E-Type Jag' or simply 'the (or an) E-Type' - everyone knew what you were talking about ..... and still do !

For me it is like seeing a ghost. A friend of mine 50 years ago had 1 just that color. He had bought 2 wrecks, 1 rear ended and 1 front end crash. they cut them in 1/2 and rebuilt a good one out of the parts.

A girl who lived down the street from me when I was a teenager had a boyfriend who owned one of these. Beautiful car. You noticed it for sure when he came down the street.

Love the old XKE's. Enzo Ferrari said it was the most beautiful car ever made.
