I also recommend the Canon Pro-200. Ink is expensive, but still much cheaper than sending work out to be printed.

Exact same thimg happened to me! I did everything I could think of to resuscitate it. Nothing worked. Long story short, I bought the Canon PRO-300. So far I'm very happy with it. Add to that, that the over all cost of ink is about 20% less on average.

I am using an HP Smart Tank Printer 5101. I like the direct feed so Ican use thicker paper and seems to make better prints than Epson's or higher level HP. It comes with a lot of tank ink and costs about $64 for all four colors.

If you want a larger format printer the Epson 8550 Eco Tank is on sale at Best Buy at $100 off:

Have eco printed 8550
Took 5 machines in 6 months to get one to work right. Forget about borderless prints, as ink just gets all over with over spray.
Prints are excellent

I have the Canon Pro100 printer and print borderless all the time with no problems. In the setup though, I add the smallest possible left, right, top, and bottom margins - like .03”.

I have an Epson Eco printer. Good for a color flyer but would not use it for photo quality prints.
You can by “bulk” tanks for most printers.
Research Epson or Canon photo quality printers. Plenty of information on line.
Just google it.

Same story here. After trying to keep my ancient Epson 2200 going for several years it finally bit the dust and I replaced it with the Canon 300. Great printer so far.

Pretty much decided on Epson's 8550 primarily because it will print an image 13"x39" and I like to make panoramas.
Gave up printing images with the Canon because of the cost of the ink and they were only for me. This looks like I can go back to doing that.

Really appreciate all of your suggesti0ns - Thanks much.

To print borderless, print oversize with border, then trim.

With the admonitions not to print borderless, seems to me that the way to do it would be to make the image to be printed 1/4" to 1/2" less in size than the paper to be used:
Papers size -8 1/2" x 11"
Image size -8 1/4" x 10 1/4"
???

Why spend cash on paper your going to throw away. 11x14 and 13x19 paper isn't cheap

It’s cheaper than trying to clean out a printer that has ink spread everywhere.

I saw a picture a few years back of the inside of a Canon Pro-100 that had been used to print lots of borderless images. The inside was a total mess with ink everywhere due to the over-spray.
