I do not know what your financials are, but that looks like a decent camera, and I did not see you complaining about its usage. I would get it repaired for continued happy usage while keeping eyes open for new technology to buy and use in the future. I do not sell my old cameras! I have destroyed a few, given a couple away, and continue to use various "old" digital cameras for special interests I enjoy off the commercial road.
Photography is now my hobby, not a financial investment. I have been careful in my buying choices, and have had no reason to shed equipment in the last 15 years. or buy the latest overpriced wonders.

I still have my first "real" camera, a Canon AE-1 Program and used it a few years back for a class. It was really fun to see the pictures appear right in front of my eyes, whether or not they were any good. I still have about 1/2 dozen rolls of B/W Ilford ISO400 to go with it if I decide to play with it again. Might be getting hard to get it developed though. I'd probably have to mail it somewhere.

I just got an estimate from Chrysler Camera for my a99ii with intermittent camera lock-up issues. It would be $830 for parts, labor and shipping to replace the mirror box, and main circuit board. I could just about get a used mirrorless for that, but I'd need to buy an adapter and my current lenses wouldn't work as well because they wouldn't match the system (mostly focus issues). The positives are that I'd practically be getting a brand new 42MP camera and wouldn't have to replace any of my lenses. I never expected it would cost so much to repair a used camera! I already paid $17.25 to ship it there from STL. I should get my rented RX10iv today or tomorrow from Lensrentals for my trip this weekend to Oshkosh.

For sure! It's still cheaper than a brand new camera, though, and all the innards will be at least. I wrote to them yesterday asking for what the issue was that they have to replace both the main board and the mirror box. I haven't officially told them yet to do the work, but I will. See you in a few days at OSH :) My dad talked to my brother on the phone the other day, but I didn't talk to him. I think he said that he was coming to the show. I'll have to ask him if he's made an un-revokable decision yet to sell his plane. One of the partners wants out and it's expensive to maintain, insure, store, etc. I should get my rental RX10iv today.

I got my rental this morning. I was expecting bubble wrap ---not a bomb shelter! It was all in a plain brown box. I think the case is heavier than the camera.

Have you ever dealt with Schiller's on Manchester Road? It seemed like the last bastion of photo professionals after Creve Couer Camera slid to the side. The pandemic took me out of the active mainstream in 2019, so I have not been to Schiller's since then, but I occasionally see their ad. I loved to browse the old stuff while they tried to sell me the new.

I've Googled or mapped their address, but I'd never been there. There was a Creve Coeur camera just down the block from where I work...between work and home. some of their stuff IMO was overpriced. When I bought my Canon Pro-100 printer from B&H it came with a box of 13x19 paper, retail $75 at B&H...at CCC, they wanted $100 for the same paper. I guess their cameras were priced the same as everyone else, but they sold like one Sony item for about every Canon ad Nikon...I think they stopped giving up altogether...then they moved or went out of business. Now its been replaced by a liquor store. i eventually check out Vintage Vinyl and the Camera museum/HOF just off of Grand.

Long ago (10 years) when I last bought New, Schiller's matched camera prices, their Extra was advice. I used to spend a lot more on darkroom supplies than camera gear, and with the bargains on out-of-date products the city scene was the place to shop. Jefferson Camera was my top gab shop for information, including the developing digital scene. The owner was lucky to die before the Net took over.
Now I only look at refurbished or UHH ads; I see no point in paying for fresh paint.

I just (about an hour ago) sent Chrysler my credit card number so they can repair my a99ii. I've already spent enough money in the last few months to even think about a sparkly new camera. Even though the repair will cost about 3 weeks pay at my part-time school bus monitor job, a repair (new mother board AND mirror box - I hope they don't find anything else to replace) it will be just under 1/8 of the cost of a new a1...so in a way, it's a bargain.

I have an old Sony A77 and many old lenses. When I updated to the A6000, I wound up getting the Sony adapter to use my old lenses on the new E-mount. It works great. I understand that they have introduced a new adapter. But you can see which one you need.

I've watched several of his videos before and have his a99ii manual (and e-version, which was free with POP. The physical book is B/W, but he e-version is color so the explanations really are easier to understand. MOST of the referenced hotlinks also work, which is a nice feature as you get just that much more of an explanation of demonstration. The video, I believe, is too old to list the current iteration, which B&H said is the LA-EA5. I also have an a77, but I only have 5 or 6 lenses, most of which are FF compatible.

If it's not one thing, it's another. I called Chrysler Camera today to get an update on my repair. Last time I talked to them, when I was at Oshkosh, they said they were waiting for the mirror box before they could start working on it...I thought that's all they needed and they had the mother board, but maybe the planes overhead led to me mis-hearing. Now I found out they are ALSO now waiting on the mother board (due by Friday) and the mirror box is in. I sent my camera in probably close to a month ago and it's still not ready...getting really frustrated. The lady told me that if there were any more delays I'd get a call or an e-mail. Almost makes me wonder if they had all the parts but used them on someone else's camera instead. After all this I hope the camera lasts a long time!

I hope so it’s a lot of trouble to go with to get your camera working

The camera is finally done. Went to final inspection on Friday and will be shipped back 2nd day air Monday (because of my patience). I can hardly wait until Wednesday. To pass the time (not really) I upgraded my canter channel speaker form a Klipsch R34 to a RP504Cii. Quite a change! I'd been wanting to get a bigger center ever since I got it in the first place. It was just the only one that would fit under my TV at the time. Now I have a different TV and mounted on the wall instead of a metal pole. Here's my new setup (front anyways).

Looks like it will be an impressive theater
A friend of mine in Houston has dedicated an entire room to a projector TV and 7 channels sound system
My self I’m good with a 5 channel sound bar and sub woofer
