Sending High Quality Photos via WhatsApp

Every so often on this site we get questions about how to send high quality photos to friends, relatives and customers. Using WhatsApp could be one solution. Although sending large batches ready for download can be better done with other methods such as Dropbox or Google photos, this could work well for individual frames. Though the article only mentions iOS devices, I would think you could do the same or similar on your Android device.

I guess it would be good to send photos taken with the phone, but I can't see uploading high quality photo files onto the phone to send them out - Dropbox or similar is easier to send from the computer.

You can use WhatsApp directly on your computer but need the phone to be linked

WeTransfer is very simple and free.

There are many ways to send files, this is just one that I can use when traveling because most places we travel will have WiFi service and WhatsApp is great for texting, calling and sending photos without cell service.

This is my favorite. It does not require downloads, configurations and it’s free up 2gb per transfer.
Wetransfer.com is what I use exclusively.

Agree. I find WeTransfer very reliable and easy to use. And 2 TB for free is a bargain.

Whatsapp is a texting and video calling app for both iOS and Android. You will usually only send a friend 1 or 2 images at a time, it's ok. But your still need to use drop box or we transfer or whatever, and just send a link.

This method does work but and I often use it for a few photos or videos, but it also in my experience, straps the Metadata from the file. When sharing my pictures that usually is not a problem.

Yes, as I mentioned before, to send a large quantity of files, other means will work better. I use WhatsApp when traveling for communication and sending photos/videos because that way I don’t need to purchase an International calling plan while I’m in another part of the world. I never bring a laptop. I can still upload to Dropbox on my phone or iPad but sometimes it’s easier to use the features that are available on WhatsApp. The only trouble I have encountered is not having enough bandwidth on the wifi service that hotels, ships or other venues have.

I look at stripping metadata as a bonus feature.

Have you tried WhatsApp on the PC? It makes it easier to type long texts.

No, I haven’t. My fingers are too large to text without hitting 2 keys so I use voice to text on my iPhone. Quicker texting isn’t really an issue.

The kids of days doesn't save that much space (if any). What it does do, no more info about you (if you care) and the photo.

I have info on my photos I do not want to lose, like file name, key words and contract info. Off some one wants a copy or another copy, I need that info to find the prints.

If someone doesn't care I guess that's ok.... But I don't understand why.

"The kids of days"? I can't figure out what you really meant.
