Nikon Lense Problem

I bought a FTZ adapter for my Nikon Z which works with all my lenses except My Nikon DX AF-S lense which I posted this morning about.
Well now I put the lense back on my DLSR and all I get is a black view.
What did I do and can it be fixed?.

Take the lens cap off.

Hmmm.....I've never seen a "lense".
