This is a flower that I was not familiar with before moving to our current home. When we asked some local residents they said they are called Naked Ladies. Maybe some of you may know them under a different name. They are interesting in that in spring leaves (like that of other lilies) come up. By the end of July the leaves dry up and disappear. About a week later the stems start coming up. Then in a few days they bloom as in the pictures. When we moved into this house only one stem would come up. This year eight stems came up. I have never seen a flower exhibit this pattern of growth. (The leaves at the bottom of the stems are grass not the Naked Ladies.)
Beautiful set! They are also known as Belladonna lilies, a species of amaryllis.

Nice to have. We used to have them at the front door.
My mom always grew these around the front of her house in Iowa. They are very pretty. Thank you for sharing.
