I am not buying a new car that has the word 'rental' anywhere in its description.
If anybody wanted to charge me for a color I would ask to see the discount or trade-in on the previous white color.

If you're the dealer.
The dealer don't make much on most options , GM makes the money!!

Worse when you have to pay a rental to use a feature already in car, understand BMW does it with heated seats in some models, GMC WITH wifi, it will keep growing, rental fees
Which means you must pay a monthly/yearly fee to use something you already paid for when you bought the car! They can turn the item/device off or on as they desire, over the car’s communication network.
When I bought my Hyundai, they asked me to pay a fee for the special security system already installed in the car. When I declined, they took the car down the street to a security company, to disable the system via software. No hardware was removed, replaced or modified. The hardware I paid for, and is still in the car, was simply disabled.
The car also contains a Sirius satellite radio system. Which I paid for but never turn on or use.
When I refused to sign up for the monthly/yearly fee program (after the one mouth free trial period), the radio limits itself to only the normal (Free) stations. Now and then Sirius turns on the radio remotely (To my great surprise) and it asks me to enroll in the satellite monthly fee program. I just turn it off again. In the future, we will own nothing! Every device will be under the full control of the seller. If you don’t pay the monthly fee or try to get it repaired by a third party, they will simply turn it off!

There have been quite a few lawsuits over that, so the trend might not continue. It's the trend toward buying but not owning, unfortunately.
How about lawsuit when someone hacks the system and has the accesories working without paying the subscription fee? All the hardware needed for them to work is there.

Porsche would actually paint the car to a sample you provided (and the car arrived with a quart of matching paint in the trunk) for a price.
For those that are interested, here's Porsche's prices:
Paint to Sample - $14,750
Paint to Sample Plus - $37,180

I wonder how much for a Porsche finished in my kitchen wallpaper.😊

I'm glad my cars didn't come with Sirius. Canceling subscriptions is difficult.

Remember when a sideview mirror was an extra-cost option? It looks like that might soon be applying to paint, as well. If you want a Jeep in any color but white, it will cost you $495. The Chevy Colorado costs $400 - $500 more if you want yellow, blue, or red paint.
"And would like seats in your truck, sir?" "Will two wheels be enough, or would you prefer then Full Highway Package?" 😁
That is strange because white is the hardest color for they to use

I guess they like a challenge.

I once cancelled a sale when I was told the paint I choose was an extra $125. I went elsewhere……a 5 hour drive…and saved $4000

I've seen special paint choices on motorcycles that cost extra, but they were special - looking different from different angles. Imagine buying a box of crayons and being asked if you wanted to pay extra for yellow, blue, and red. 😂

I know. Most car manufacturers have white as no added cost color but when I worked in printing white ink is more expensive than other colors.

Have you priced out paint to do a complete quality paint job of a car?
To paint my 2006 M5 with original color is $20,000 to $25,000 for a quality job. But then again, it cost $15,000 to paint my Mooney 201J with 3 colors, and I provided the pInt (Imron).

Janis Joplin had a paisley paint job on her Porsche. I’d guess it was a local repaint/art project for some talented hippie😎
