Bond falls is my favorite. Be sure to go up the steps and get the smaller falls above. There is a bridge at the bottom you can also cross and go on the other side. Spend a few hours, very worth it.
Where will you be traveling from? Maybe more ideas.
Didn't see any mention of Lakenenland Sculpture Park near Marquette - definitely worth a look and it's free. Also, if you're into wildlife check out Seney NWR.
Go to White Pine, they have the White Pine Super Club and Bowling Alley😊. A place where they feed the Black Bear table scraps, they stop feeding them in late summer to prevent them from grouping up before the bear season. They do have pictures. Just a unique place.
Here are a few specifics. On the West end, Porcupine Mtns — if you go on north side, it’s a fairly short hike to Lake of Clouds (photo abv). Nice trail up on the rocks maybe 300ft above lake, great views. Drive north of Marquette — lots of streams, falls. Stop in Marq — court house is site of Anatomy of Murder. I’d recommend reading the novel of “Robert Traver” (Supr Justice in Mich — Voelker). It’s a nice side piece to read for the trip. Right in Munising is Munising Falls. 5 min walk from parking. Sweet images there — and you can walk behind the falls. Picture Rocks — close park to Chapel Rock. Spray Falls, farther East in Pic Rks - stream that drops right over the cliff, but you need boat for that. For Mac Bridge, you can drive a few miles West on 2 and there is a rest stop with nice views. You can also drive from UP side right to the base on West side (past Quality Inn) and also East side past Family Fare Supermarket. The issue with Mac Island is its a day visit. Lots of water all around — ya, an island - but less
interesting views. The specialty food of the UP is “pasties” — which was originally the food immigrant miners — like Finns, Swedes — took underground. One thought — light houses. Michigan has more than any other state.
Hi. The waterfalls in Munising, Black Rock in Marquette, if you are game…the top of Mt. Marquette(I took my Camero up there), if you have a good storm…the upper harbor for storm waves, Sugarloaf, porcupine mountains, lake of the clouds.
My wife was born in Marquette.
I've go to get all these. The UP is way up on my bucket list. I've started accumulating but these are interesting. This is why I read the HOG daily.

I am planning a photography trip to the Michigan UP for this fall. I have a planning guide, but I would like photographers' advice and perspective on specific areas, including opinions on how long to stay at each location so I am not rushed and can make advance lodging arrangements. Thank you in advance to my fellow photographers for your input!
It has been a while since I have been in UP. I found the Menominee River area to be of interest for me. The river itself provides interesting photo opportunities with its coloration. There are quite a lot of small towns with a lot of diversity mixed in with farming land. Wallace may prove to be a good starting point.
I went to the UP a year ago.
Recomendations:
1. We went early October, at the height of fall foliage. With the crazy weather, I don't know when it will be this yea
r.
2. Mackinak Island. The hotel there is super expensive., even to just look around. No cars allowed on the island, but the horse-drawn tour is great.
3. Boat tour of Painted Rocks. I took the morning tour, and had a lot of trouble with the sun. Try for an afternoon tour.
4. Sable Falls. It is about 175 steps down. Not too bad. Unfortunately, it is also 175 steps up. Murder on my 82 yo legs.
5. Try PASTIES from a real bakery (not from a stand that nukes frozen ones). They are kind of like knishes, made by someone who has never been to a NY deli.
6. If you are lucky, you may experience the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, you may have to wait up all night
for hit-or-miss chance.
Hope this helps.Enjoy your trip.
We liked Whitefish Point which is not to far from Tahquamenon Park. There's a Shipwreck Museum, lighthouse and beach at the Point. This is where the Edmund Fitzgerald (Gordon Lightfoot) went down. Back in the day we were allowed to have a fire on the beach.
A must see is Palms Book State Park in Manistique, Michigan. It has Michigan's largest fresh water spring and some of the most vivd colors.

This is not “photography per se, but I found their copper mining interesting.
