While driving a company van with a vent window down the hi-way I hit a honey bee.the bee recoshaded off the window and into my arm.the stinger stayed stuck to my arm and the bee landed on the floorboard. I had to stop and get a pair of needlenose plyers to remove the stinger.we had a heat wave like the one we are now having here in Tx.my arm swelled up pretty bad .I was sent to the hospital immediately. The doctor told the company that I need to stay home at least 3 days.
I drive a 15 pilot.most of our city streets have a 40 mph speed limit.i have to take it to 45 so it will pick up 5th gear then eas of the peddle and set the cruise control to about 42 mph.it stays on 5th gear.

Personally, I like to shift gears and I can probably still double clutch while “heel and toeing” for simultaneous braking, but I have to admit that my current 7-speed automatic can probably shift faster than I can. Paddle shifters are cool and many even automatically blip the throttle on downshifts, but they have their issues also. Many times I’ve seen a race car spin and be stuck for a long time before the driver can get it into neutral to restart the engine.

Try to find a new car with a manual transmission. Almost nonexistent. If you are replacing clutches at 100K there is something wrong. Could be driving conditions, like stop and go driving, technique, like unconsciously “riding” the clutch or material defects, like having a Yugo.
The Automatic Fit has a better mpg rating than the manual.

They're a safety hazard. I know this goes back before seat belts, but even with them the the same could happen. In 1968, my mother's parents were involved in a car accident. The damage to the cars wasn't that terrible, but they were in their late 80's. My grandfather suffered a broken pelvis and died as a result of that, but not right away. My grandmother's head went into the post of the air vent and she was killed almost instantly. So, as much as we liked them, that's why they're not around anymore.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your grandparents. The safety thing is something I hadn't considered and even if they could be designed to open by rolling down into the door ahead of the regular window, this doesn't replace the vent windows role of directing air into the vehicle because the glass is tilted to catch the wind. And quite simply there isn't enough of demand for it for automobile makers to even consider it. Thank you for your response.
Well living in TX, you must have AC.

The easiest way to save on gas is to take the bus and leave he driving top them.

My car has a screen that gives constant MPG readings. The mileage decreases with the a/c on, but not enough to be totally uncomfortable on a hot day. I seldom turn the a/c on, and the last couple of weeks were warm enough to make me want it on.
Cruise control is a great way to save on mileage as long as the road is flat. I will welcome the day that AI will teach the car to anticipate hills and changing lights. I do have a warning that the lights are going to change for an emergency vehicle. (They have controls that can change lights to RED in all directions) Right now, my car "reads" speed limit signs and changes the speed limit posting instantly as we pass the signs. It does not change the speed I'm going, just reminds me it has changed.
My dad (the auto mechanic) taught me to never be lead footed on the gas and brakes. I started buying brand new cars for my 21st birthday. To date, I've never had to replace brakes on any car. Some of them I had for 7 or 8 years.
Ohio has a good thing going for traffic lights on major highways. A yellow flashing light will start to flash when the lights are about to go red. The yellow lights are positioned so that you have time to slow before reaching the red light.. thus easy slowing and braking.
Here in Michigan, we have some of the same yellow lights but they are flashing ALL the time and thus are of no help. Michigan loses on that one.
Yes I do have ac in Texas. I also have 2 small window units in case we loose power in the house I have a small 4500 watt generator which I can use to power those window units so we can at least have a little ac.that little generator save us from being one of the 209 people that froze during the February 2021 freeze and loss of power on the electrical grid.
Replace your air filter when recommended and make sure your tires are always aired to at least the recommended pressure.on most trucks they can be aired to 40 to 45 pounds maybe even 50 psl depending on the tire.

Funny you should mention this. I once drove a U-Haul truck through Texas, and almost the same thing happened to me. Some giant wasp or bee thing came right through that vent window and hit me, but I didn't get stung. I pulled over, opened the doors, and waited for the thing to decide to leave.
And possibly die. Turning off the ac in 90+- degrees is stupider then wearing those dumbass masks.
I had two of them. Here is the other one.
