These are great. Glad that you're safe. A friend had his house hit by lightning. Instant fire. If he was home he would have had to change his shorts. Fire dept. got it out pretty fast. Still lots of damage.

Yikes. I've had lighting strike about 100 ft away while fishing with my dad. It hit the rail on the bridge above us and we could feel the energy in the air. That was enough for us. No more fishing in storms.
Fantastic series!!! Love lighting and storm cloud shots
Got the same show here in Gilbert a few minutes later. Nice captures.

Finally we got a bit of a show and some rain. So I figured if I parked my chair and tripod under the large power transmission lines, the lightning would sooner or later get closer. I was right and finally went inside.
Hi
Nice set of images. As a newbie Astro photographer can you share your camera setup and settings? Do you use anything special or specific to capture those lightning streaks?
Thanks in advance for the info.
Bonnie
I can just feel the electricity crackling in these!

Hi Bonnie,
I used a Canon 5Ds and had it on a tripod, 16mm@ 10sec, f10, ISO 800, except I reduced the ISO to 200 on the shots with the bright building and street lights. I have a lightning trigger device, but I just used the long exposure method. Some of the strikes were quite far away, but with a 50mp camera, I was able to crop some in closer. Thanks for your interest. Charlie (alberio)
Thanks so much for your informative reply. Greatly appreciated.
