When you delete items, then you have to delete trash to gain back storage.

Your Google Dashboard shows all of the services that are using that storage space. https://myaccount.google.com/dashboard

If you go into Google Drive, there is a link on the left called Storage. If you click that it will show you everything you are storing and their sizes. That will show what is eating a lot of your storage.

If you mean Gmail Trash, I just did that.
