Pick-up sticks and a House Wren’s nest

The adults stopped defending the nest and the nest was abandoned. I don’t know if the eggs were never laid or what the complication was. Maybe the female was killed by a predator or was diseased? At any rate, I am impressed with the number of sticks in the nest.
There is a wren nesting box about 23 yards of this one and its seems to be active.

A much better job of stick-breaking to build a nest than I could ever do Great peek 😁

joecichjr, All of wildlife constantly amazes me. Just think of the number of trips that were required for the nest building.

I was told that you need to have two wren houses so that the female can pick which one she wants to use.
In the past they seem to favor one house over the other. Always enjoyed watching them feed and raise the
young. Now I live in the desert in Ca. so do not have the wrens we had back in Illinois.
