I certainly understand the allure of a compact high resolution full frame high MP system. Although it doesn't quite check all the same boxes I chose to use Nikon's Z7ii with a 28mm lens to fill the need of a more compact system for urban wandering because I'm allready invested in Nikon gear.

If you choose to jump on the Q3 please share the results and fun of using it.

Well the OP has a couple of the Z9 and dozens of Nikkor lenses so really he doesn't need anything more but the money is burning in his pocket so a Leica especially a fixed lens Leica makes sense.

I am a Nikonite, through and through. I have a pair of Z9’s, and a D850 with dozens of lenses.

I recently went on a photo workshop to Malta and Sicily with a group of photographers, pros and nearly pros. There were several Leicas present.

Swore I was not going to jump into that, but I feel that I am beginning to crack.

So, here is my ponderance, Q2 or Q3?

The images that come from these cameras are intriguing to me. The size of the camera is small enough to not be intrusive as my Z9 with a 2.8 lens.

But, a whole new system to deal with. And it’s not cheap.

I am always the first to encourage others to buy the camera gear they want, but this is me, not someone else.

I'm as happy as Lark with my D810 so happy I ordered another from KEH yesterday morning I thought about A D850 ,but that would lead to needing more storage, and possibly a new Computer and It don't do anything My D810 doesn't do FOR ME , I don't need any more bells and whistles,I don't use the ones on the D810!!
But I always say if you can afford it go for it.

Robert, perhaps you already have one or more, however, a medium-format system produces images that other formats simply cannot. Albeit they are not a stealth camera for walking about the streets.

I started 40 plus years ago with a nikormat, Had many Nikons along the way including D850 then covid came and I got the Q2 loved it. Changed my life. Then the M11, loved that too. Don’t use the Nikons anymore except for exceptional circumstances.

If you are fully vested in the Dave Ramsey program then why not? Otherwise, resist with all your might.

I have never been a Leica fan. It is my belief that good optic is good optic regardless of the manufacturer. If I had a Z9 I would be perfectly happy.

I know that you want to hear others saying that you should invest in a Leica so I do not fit in that category. I use Olympus cameras, old cameras by the way and in my case I have been highly satisfied with the results I get from them in my photography. I am not saying go with Olympus, you have decided that a Leica is better for you and so should be it. As others have said, life is short.

I am sure a Leica is not going to improve on what you do now with the Z9. Just my opinion.

Thank you. You told me what I want to hear. I’m on the fence. The biggest reason besides the cost, is now venturing into a new system. I’m heavily vested and invested in the Nikon universe and adding another could be a bit of head trauma. I know I can do with my Nikons what the Leica will do, but you know GAS.

I ventured into the Sony world when they came out with the AZR series. Bought both A7R and A7RII, with the trifecta of f/2.8 lenses. I had two systems of which I hated the Sony menus. I decided that while the images from Sony were excellent, I just didn’t see the benefit of having those two systems. I sold all of my Sony equipment months after buying it, huge hole in my wallet but relieved that I didn’t have to fight the inner turmoil the two systems created.

Part of the pro rational for Leica in my mind is, fixed lens, small camera, relative to my Z’s with multiple lenses. My family would be shocked if I showed up at the front door ready to leave on a trip with a tiny bag for my camera, instead of a roll on. 😂

That would be a major paradigm shift for me.

My friend is recommending the Fuji GFX100S, but that’s a bit more that I want to chew on right now for the type of photography I am doing. He loves it though.

We started with the same camera! Your endorsement for the Leicas is intriguing.

I’m trying. But, new gear is energizing. See, I’m waffling like a wet noodle and a spineless jelly fish. By the way, do you know what you get when you combine a wet noodle and a spineless jelly fish? Probably a new Leica! Haha. Got a laugh a little.
