Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://www.usa.canon.com/" on this server.

Any ideas?

I think I may have found a problem.

If you look carefully at the URL as posted there ar two "" beginning and end. The first one is not connected to the URL, the one at the end is.

When I click on it the s is automatically added to HTTPs. The first " is missing.

Jim,
I think we have to chalk this up to 'user error'

Removing the last / made it work. I am not sure why after all these years without change it denied access. All is well now.

It is because the way it was typed the first " is not part of the link.

Look on your original post. The first " is black, not included in the link. The second one is blue, part of the link.

It is too hot to do anything outside, so playing on line was a good second choice.

Using my PC I clicked on the link you posted and got the same message you reported. Then I copied and pasted the URL into my browser and it opened up. I'm guessing the link includes extra characters that aren't part of the link. In this case it'sthe second quotation mark.

Also on my Windows 7 laptop it denied access but I scrolled down a bit further & clicked on a Consumer Button & went straight to the Canon site...Yeah I know it's old...I am in the process of totally switching over to my new ipad Pro...

Good question Barbara but no I have not made any changes for a long time?
Changing URL and removing the / seem to work. Thanks Jim

Jim,

Most likely Canon made a change to their web site security to keep people from trying to browse their directories.

Willie

I think you are correct Willie. Due to increased hackers a lot of things are changing

More likely many people didn't read the response above that showed it was an extra " that caused the entire problem.

It was no mystery, just a typo.

That doesn't mean we can't go on for a few more pages without reading what was already written.

More often than we like to admit.

Now that the problem is resolved we can go ahead and have fun with it for a few more pages.

Enjoy the weekend Jim!
