I looked at google to see what a mosquito hawk is, because this is the first time I came across such name and this is what i saw:

At my first, quick glance, I thought those were spider veins πŸ˜›πŸ˜›πŸ˜› (A super shot, by the way ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

In New Orleans, which is where I’m from originally, we called them mosquito hawks. I don’t think I ever heard the term dragonflies until I moved to Texas.

Also from New Orleans

I only know this flyer as a dragonfly by name. Tutubi is what they call it in the Philippines. They come in different colors, mostly in attractive bright red. They come out during the rice harvest season along with fireflies that light up the dark rice fields at night.

As kids we would catch them, feed them tobacco and then watch them fly around like they were drunk. I don't know what the tobacco had in it that made them tipsy, but it certainly did.

Thanks All, I’m pleased you like my efforts to capture this beautiful little fellow on the wing. They can be a little difficult to photograph in flight, especially when I’ve set the camera in single shot mode for static subjects.
