BS, congress represents the American people who actually fund and lend their sons and daughters to serve in the military.

In theory.

I guess we could eliminate DOD, various department Secretary positions, generals...their, Congress, performance is poor enough for their primary responsibilities without them micro-managing anything else.

Yeah the administration is right, right for our enemies. That 18% served is going to seem large if we continue on our current trajectory where only 23% of recruits even qualify for service due to their fat asses and drug use. Couple that with emphasis on Critical Race Theory and inclusion training instead of attempting to mold young men into combat ready troops with the moral and history of unit cohesion and you think the administration is right. I guess that explains the blank picture frame for the Marines when you view the Joint Chief’s photos.

The blank picture is due completely to a Repuke POS Senator called Tuberville (R) (AL).

The Biden Administration has publicly voiced its opposition to a measure in the annual defense spending bill that would mandate promotions based on merit and forbid promotions based on race.

This measure was written by Rep Jim Banks R (IND). “The administration strongly opposes the House’s sweeping attempts to eliminate the [Defense Department’s] longstanding DEIA efforts and related initiatives to promote a cohesive and inclusive force,” OMB wrote. Another Republican pipes up:Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) said during a House Rules Committee markup on Tuesday that eliminating DEIA policies is not meant to discriminate, but rather to boost the military’s lethality. Obviously this is NOT a bipartisan viewpoint.

No expert but I know wrong when I see it. After my active duty tour (a few years after) I went into the Army reserves (11B) and went to Drill Sgt training where I had a few opportunities to push active duty troops at both Ft. Benning (correct name) and Fort Jackson. I personally experienced motivating young men (and women at Ft.Jackson), the importance of unit cohesiveness and teamwork. When young people come together for a common goal (mission) they appear to be (as most of you were when you were in basic) color blind and focused on the mission. We gave them plenty to keep them focused and more. They would have had no time for Miley and Austin’s crap and would have not served the moral of the unit well. Your experience may vary.

Rumor has it that some Hogg Attic participants may be tapped for high level advisory positions.

My opinion is that we should keep politics out of our war fighting, our loses in Viet Nam and other wars speak to that. But the military still has to answer to our congress, it is part of the system of checks and balances set up by our constitution, I know that I am not teaching you but simply reminding you why there is such a role for congress in managing the DOD. The Biden Administration has been very aggressive in the application of DEIA throughout all of our governmental institutions including the military, this is simply congressional representation pushing back at what many in this country feel is an ill advised policy position being executed by the executive branch.

Yeah, how’s that going with the top leadership becoming so political? Why did they need to get involved with social engineering?

You guys just don’t get it..

I spend my entire working life either in the military or working closely with them and what you don’t understand stand - it is a culture onto itself . Not like the cities and rural areas thst divide America or the cultural history you like or don’t like. No red no blue .
The military is a team - one team one theme.

Stay the hell out of it .
Democrats republicans - right or left .

And for those my age remembering nam basic training I will say that any comparison of early or pre all volunteer days is really meaningless. Todays professionals are just that professionals and there is no place for this kind of garbage

So you have no problem with the Biden Administration meddling in the military with DEIA but you do have a problem with the congress saying that he should not be doing that? How does that make any sense Denny? BTW, taxpayer funded and subject to congressional oversight.
