Great looking car. Suicide doors, pop-up headlights and split rear window all on one vehicle.

I agree with others that this is a great looking car and you did a fine job of capturing its graceful lines, Kim. However, this model does not have "suicide doors" as this commenter states.
I swear, if you shortened the front and chopped a small piece off the trunk it would look like a VW. Still, it is a beautiful car!
My father and his older brother owned an Auburn, made by the same company as the Cord, as well Duesenbergs, in Auburn, IN, back before the war (WWII). My uncle was older so it was technically in his name, but they shared paying for it and maintaining it. As for who got to drive it, that was usually based on who had gas money that week. Note it was not the sporty, 'Speedster' model, but rather the one with the 'rumble seat', which was always a favorite with couples on a cold night. I think it was an early 30's model (we've never found any photos of it, just the stories).
I have to amend my comment regarding my reply to one made by cdayton. If I had opened my eyes (before my mouth) I would have seen the door handle to the front of the front door, making it a "suicide door."
