In the Major League Baseball draft tonight LSU players Paul Skenes was the first selection and Dylan Crews was the second selection and made history as the first two players from the same college baseball team to be selected first and second in the baseball draft. Skenes was the best pitcher in the nation and Crews was the best outfielder in the nation. Crews also was the Golden Spikes Award winner as the top amateur baseball player in the US as well as the SEC Male Athlete of the Year.

Talking about the draft -- What goes with St. Louis's choice of an outfielder? St. Louis has at least six excellent outfielders, two of which can also play excellent infield. They also have a very good fielder in Memphis that was with them for a number of games before being sent back to Memphis only because they didn't have enough room for him with all the outfielders they currently have. I thought they would go for pitching. Maybe they just selected the best player still available and hope to do some trading.

Since it's not happened but this one time since the first college baseball game was played I doubt we'll see it again for many, many years. The Tigers surely won't have any recruiting problems for many years in the future.

The same (thoughts) are with several of the teams, including the San Diego Padres.
Most teams are always looking for the (miracle) arms of a youthful pitcher that is
almost bionic and never gets injured.
These (boys) are so young (most of the 18-19 years old), and haven't really proven
themselves.
I think the baseball scouts should be required to allow the young high school guys
to, at least, get a taste of two years of college ball, before going after a pro contract.
----I know, the $$$ signs look so inviting and there is a special pride of being touted
by a professional ball club. Believe me, the shine wears off really quickly when true
reality of the pro leagues and the new car smell has left that great new car that
the scouts gave you.

I agree with you completely. Far too many kids sign with the pros just out of high school, far too many of those never make it. If they had a couple years of college ball they would be better prepared. I also think that the enticements of NIL for college kids will lure some of them to try college for a few years because they can make some good money from NIL. Unfortunately, NIL is going to ruin college ball.

Congratulations to Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews. GEUAX TIGERS!!

I was surprised by how many high school kids got drafted. They should all get a taste of some college ball. Also don't like the "one and done" in college basketball.
