To quote Mayor Shinn (Paul Ford) in The Music Man, "Get his credentials."

"Olympus Corporation’s chief executive Yasuo Takeuchi has revealed that the company chose to sell off its camera business to Japan Industrial Partners two years ago in a bid to get any value for it before it became obsolete."

New owners, all bets are off?

That’s a gross over-simplification of the end of years of corruption and financial mis-management. It was an embarrassing mess many years in the making. JIP is giving it a chance.

That was 5 pages ago. We’re into all out bickering at this point.

I predicted 11 pages. Only just 3 to go !
I knew I could count on the "community".

As I find typing by phone screen rather tedious, and as a picture is worth about 6,000 ASCII characters, Ive chosen to comment via the attachments below. Acoarst YMMV, but the visually literate amongst us will appreciate the huge degree of message compression.

Is it really fair to predict how many pages and make post after post of your nonsense repeat photos and filling the thread up with your self promotion?

Generally, when someone buys a product line in trouble, they find ways to make it more profitable, unless they are like the folks who bought Instant Pot, ran it into the ground, and took the money and ran.

I'm not saying the new owners are like the folks who now own the Kodak and Minolta names, but all bets are still off.

Im sure that you prefer the multi-multi screen, repetitious, long-form essays from our honored "UHH Long Time Pro World Award Winner" gurus and 50 year commercial veterans that stretch a paragraph of basic info into tediously pedantic personal blogs that very often include their career resumes.

Well schweethart, what I post also derives from 50 years commercial experience and wastes faaaaar less space. But, mine is readable only by the visually literate so if it passes you by, so be it. Its not for you ? No hey problemo. The pix get repetitious ? Show us something, *anything*, on UHH that we havent already seen time and again, mostly from the same sources. Yes, just try to show us ... SOMETHING new ;-)

Only 3 more pages to fulfill the prophesy.

Nah, Imma stick around. At least I’m aware when I post nonsense and it’s usually directed at somebody because that’s all they understand.

Dang. I just wasted words that make sense.

The financials have been laid out...the market share is known.

It's dang obvious...though they will never tell you.

You have to peek behind the curtain to get past marketing.

As for the Zeiss position...that is third hand...but makes perfect sense.
There are no micro Zeiss lenses...
There was a big media splash about ten years ago when Carl Zeiss was invited to make micro lenses.
You can google that much...big fanfare...and...zilch.
He looked at it alright...and decided to never make a micro lens.

Panasonic is doing fine...OM-D is not.

Yeah, Panasonics published financials aren’t broken down to that level and Zeiss makes cellphone lenses. And you can’t comprehend something as simple as TSA regulation on batteries.
