You’ve been trying to sell this story for two years. You’re still wrong.

I'm not selling anything...but you are still uninformed on the issue...or should I say...you see only the marketing side.

I am not about to put together the actual business portfolio layering that has gone on with OM-D.

But I did see someone post about it a while back on another forum...and the guy nailed it correctly.
Has all the ducks in a row properly...he understands the business side of it.

If I find it...I'll post it.

But all one has to do is look up the financial specifics...and find out what I said is 100% accurate...100%.

Meanwhile, we Olympus/OM owners are happily enjoying our fantastic systems, which which will still be providing us with years of satisfaction whether the company survives or not.

That's fine...not fine for OM-D...but still fine.

However...

Recommending it to others as a viable way forward...is not fine...unless they don't care about having the latest things...micro is at a stand still...OM-D is in a coma.

It took less than a half a year to sell off the Olympus optical division to JIP so Olympus would have some money to throw at their losses at Olympus Corporation due to the legal law suit. We were told by you, Ken Rockwell, and others to sell our equipment fast because before the end of the year OMDS would be cut apart and all sold off.

Here we are two and a half years later being told by you that we are hanging on to a company that will be gone soon. Even Ken Rockwell is not saying such at this time. And the increased market share and new bodies and lenses, some of which are award winning, are an indication of a failing company?

OK, whatever you want to say and believe.

You're correct, B&H could have saved some grief by transferring the "discontinued" lens to the newer listing. An explanation was given at:

Not a clue. The problems at Olympus never had anything to do with product or business decisions. It was all because of fraud and corruption by upper management.

That lens is extremely hard to come by. I'll never let mine go unless my AMD gets to the point I just can't shoot anymore. Last I heard there was about a one year waiting list if you could even get on it. A fellow Oly shooter I met in SC told me that he heard that they were built by hand and only had one guy who could build them. Take that with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, the OM1 is a superb camera, and the 100-400 is a VERY capable lens. Take a look on mu43 for examples . I posted an "Impressions and review" thread over there a couple years ago. I had that lens while I was waiting for my 150-400.

Best wishes foir your search, but don't hold your breath waiting for a 150-400.

That was the old story about the Olympus 300mm f/2.8.

All I can say is, the wait is most definitely worth it.

No one is ever afraid to buy a Canon despite them flirting with bankruptsy every 18 to 24 months. Financial maneuvers are merely corporate SOP. Cooking the books is a way of life. Its amazing what fanbois will believe.

I know they changed the name to "OM System," in case someone else hasn't mentioned that. Stupid name, in my opinion. "I have a Canon." "I shoot with a Nikon." "Well, I use OM System."

Yes since 2020 Olympus no longer owns the camera business. OM Digital Solution now belongs to JIP. JIP licenses the name Olympus from Olympus so they can continue making Olympus brand cameras.

I've been interested in Olympus cameras and lenses for a while specifically for wildlife and bird photography. I was thinking this might be the year so I was looking into what would be my first lenses if I buy the camera. I decided that for my purposes the OM SYSTEM 150-400mm f/4.5 TC 1.25 IS PRO Lens would be they one I needed so I went to B&H to check availability and price. It was out of stock so I set an email alert for when it comes back in stock. Yesterday I received the following from B&H:

"You are receiving this message because you asked to be notified when this item becomes available. We regret to inform you that this item has unfortunately been discontinued. Please check back on our website for similar or possible replacement items.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding."

Olympus was bought out some time ago and is now OMD (Systems). Although the flagship OM1 camera bears the Olympus name, it is the last product to do so (it was a deliberate decision by OMD). I believe that if you search for the 150 - 400mm f4.5 under OMD you you will find it. There is some suggestion B & H merely removed the Olympus name, replacing it with OMD.
