Good topic. Just did another set yesterday - July 4 here in Annapolis Md. I have tried many settings but I have found that 1/30 sec to 1/40 sec works well with mild telephoto. In my case the zoom lens set to 50-70mm with my longer zoom lens. I am using an older Olympus E420 so the crop factor is 2 (based on 35mm). A tripod is a must and one must be VERY light with the shutter button push. I am not using a cable release but should be. In my case the Live View no longer works so I must pre compose and then pre set before the next firework which are in my case faily tightly grouped. But not a real problem - just a little prick in the ass. My new FULL FRAME DSLR camera will certainly make things a lot easier. For me it is important to have a very black background. 2 images attached.

My wifeโ€™s iPhone videos are way better than my still photos.

A couple of mine from this year. Tripod. F11, ISO 100, Auto WB, vary exposures between 8-15 seconds.

Are you complaining or complimenting. A lot of new people to the forum every year. Repeating it helps the new people who may be wondering how these beautiful photos are achieved.

Thank you, I appreciate it being posted again because I'm learning.
