Very nice. I built mine in 2016. My, how time flies! It still has good specs, so I'm satisfied.

I did an inventory of the "extra" components I had lying around. After buying a case and couple of other minor parts, I have enough to build another one. Nothing special, though, with a Core i5 processor. I'll get to that one of these days. One problem is finding a place to put it. 😁

"Outdated" is a relative term. My build from 2016 doesn't have the specs of the best build that's possible today, but would I ever notice any difference in performance? There would probably be a difference in processing 100GB of video, but that's not something I do. I have a Core i7, lots of memory, several SSDs, and two optical drives, so I'm all set for several more years.

On your new system.

I am perplexed by UHH people who would never think of building a custom computer and end up buying off the shelf prebuilds. You now have a kick fanny machine that will last you for years to come. hum, 32 GB DDR5 5200MHz, blazing fast~!!!

UHH people should realize that one can not plug things into the wrong slots... things have unique slots. for things like the 5200 mhz memory speed, there are instructions on how to custom set the bios [basic input/output system] now called UEFI [Unified Extensible Firmware Interface]. Name change does not make it hard to do.

"having windows OS issues causing random system crashes" Why didn't you just reinstall windows... or was this a moral excuse to justify an new build. I am sure you did not just move to old drive over to the new computer with the windows problems tagging along, or did you and problems disappeared. Of course not you have a new drive.

You will will have yourself a grand machine when you're through putting it together.

Yes, it is nice to get one built and running, but it's really not that simple. First, you have to be sure to buy parts that are compatible. PCPartPicker.com will help with that. Then, figuring out the directions about what connects where can be a challenge. Many of the directions assume prior knowledge on the part of the builder. The difference in price isn't going to be comparable to baking a cake vs buying one from a bakery. Building one for my son cost $1,440. Mine cost quite a bit more. My Dell and my son's cost just under $900 each, with not a huge difference between them and the homemade.

Well - although it is buggy - the 'old Norge' still works AND it has many programs running that for some reason I can't get to work on winblows 11. When you do a 'Clean Install' on a windows computer, the registry is reset - clearing ALL of your old programs information - like the passwords and the license keys - so a clean install was out of the question. I tried doing a DISM repair - but that didn't help either. So - Yeah - 7 years, a buggy old computer that I really couldn't trust - so time for some new silicon.

Thanos has been up and running since January - boots Photoshop CS6 in 4 seconds.
Hopefully it will last for at least another 7 years, at which point I'm not sure I'll be up for another build.

I can't BUY what I want, or what I can build. And of course what I want is really more than I need
Nobody builds RAID5 systems any more, and NOBODY that I know of builds their systems with a dedicated swap file drive to reduce data traffic on the system and data drives. Also none of the pre-builts use NAS-Certified HDDs - built to run 24/7/365 for 10 years. My old computer has 3 high-end graphics cards tied together in SLI - but nobody (including me on my new machine) does THAT any more either. I did not put the pedal to the metal with a super high-end graphics card this time - but then the GEFORCE RTX 3060 I installed is no slouch.
So - True - you can't always GET what you Want - -
But if you try sometimes - you CAN build it.

Your build looks similar to my build. Assembled mine in 2019, and it is still an excellent/outstanding machine. My youngest son wants it when I am ready to get/build another, lol. He is a computer tech. His daughter said: "Do you know what you have here'? Of course I do, lol... Built for photography specs.

I am 80 years old and still build my own computers, my latest and probably my last, specs.
Corsair mid-tower case (damaged stock) no damage visible.
Corsair 850w power supply
Asus TUF Gaming Z690 motherboard (open box)
64 gigs of Corsair DDR4 3600 ram
MSI Radeon 6950xt 16 gig video card (used)
2 Samsung 870 4 TB SSDs
7 fans to blow out hot air
Ben-Q 32 inch monitor (refurb)

It's going on a year old, great computer.

You Win <LOL>
I will DEFINITELY look into open-box, used and refurbs on my next build !!
Oh - my monitor is a 34" curved Viotek - but BenQ ain't no slouch !!
? why 2 x 4 TB SSDs ? Did you join them into a JBOD 8 TB array ? Or as a 4 TB RAID1 system drive ?
I do have to claim bragging rights on my 24 TB NAS Certified RAID5 Data Drive.

Sorry, Merlin, I didn't know we were in a competition? No, two separate drives, C and D, have my backup on D drive and saved photos and folders. I forgot to mention that I have an Intel I7 12700 cpu, you got me beat there.
I have never had a problem buying open box, refurb or used, on the mobo, I got for half price, the video card for about 45% of new, the monitor for about 50% of a new one and the case about 20% of a new one.
I consider you the winner, Merlin.
