Images in this post use a few different 1980s manual focus Canon FDnew L-series lenses, mounted to the 24MP Sony a7II mirrorless camera.
Marina Towers The RAW files were processed in Adobe Lightroom v6.
Michigan Ave Bridge I was downtown about 6:30 am Tuesday. Alas, that was too early to have the sun lighting the entire east-facing side of the Wrigley Building.
Michigan Ave Bridge Instead, I wandered around and captured ideas in the area where the sun was shining between the buildings.
The Gentlemen These manual focus lenses have no electronic communication to the digital camera. So, you need to set the aperture manually and focus the lens manually. I use a Metabones adapter for these FD lenses to Sony's E-mount on the a7II. As the camera can't communicate to the lens, I have to configure the camera to release the shutter with no lens mounted (detected).

Great set of photos, Paul. Thanks for sharing the lens setup and methodology you needed to employ to capture these beauties.
Paul, as always you make Chicago look good with your great photographs !

You really show off Chicago's amazing architecture. Very interesting how you adapted the lens to the a7II.
Nice shots- I really like the perspective used on the "corn cobs".

Nicely done. I thought I might see pictures of last Sunday's race in downtown Chicago.
As usual, Paul, very nice work on all of these.

Thank you Kerry! We actually were at the Art Institute on Sunday that was literally at one of the many 'corners' of the race course. But, that was during the flooding rains of Sunday. When we came out, the rain had stopped, but the race had not yet started. Then, we were on the other side of the loop, eating, when they finally started the race. No pics.
Thank you
Irvingite Charles, Joe, Gary, Charles, 13, Jim, tradio, Bob, Kerry! I mostly came to see the huge flag on the side of the Wrigley Building. But, the landscape versions didn't work this time. Here's a vertical that doesn't 'show' as well on UHH for those of us using landscape-oriented monitors:

Nice photos, Paul. The first is stunning.

Very nice collection of pictures. Guess those old FD lens' ain't done yet, I've got a small collection left over from my AE-1 days and an adapter to couple them up to my M series cameras. Gotta get that old glass back in service.
