Disgusting device, a current day digital incarnation of the Canon AE-1. Cannot imagine taking it even halfway seriously as compared to so many better choices.

Seriously? How can a photographic device be "disgusting"? The only thing that is "disgusting" is your reply. How about trying to come up with civilized posts that include at least an attempt at analytic discussion?

I have a Sony A73. I'm thinking of a smaller camera for travel in my old age! I'm looking a Fuji XT-5 or an OM1. Any input on this decision?

I purchased the OM-1, Panasonic/Leica 8-18mm (16-36) for wide and Oly 12-100mm (24-200) for everything else. Oly makes a Pro series and other compact lenses, superb optics. Completely happy with this camera and series of lenses....Cheers

I am 87 and have faced the same problem. Have R3, R5 and lenses, but just too much for travel. Admit the OM-1 has better specs, but I went to the OM-D-Mark III which has most of the OM-1 capability but is lighter still and mainly use 12-200 lens. I find it great for travel! If you have any interest in Macro, the 60MM Macro for it is incredibly small and light as are the other lenses relatively speaking.

The RX10/100 does away with all extra lenses. If you truly want to shed considerable size and weight and ENJOY the trip, the Sony RX series is an excellent option. But, if you don't mind carrying and buying extra/bigger lenses or you plan on making/selling larger prints then M4/3 may be a better option.....

You seem to disagree with reality.

Ultimate kit there ! Im using the "budget version", EM-1 mkII, 9-18 for the wide end but theres clearly no way around the 12-100. That is always the center piece.

It is a really nice lens, stays on the camera most of the time...I also have the 100-400 as my third lens and use it for wildlife primarily...Cheers, have a happy and safe 4th.

If I needed another small travel compact camera, it would be a Sony RX100 series, or a Canon G*x series or a Panasonic LUMIX SX*. If most shots are in that 24-70, the RX100 iii or Canon G1x iii or a LUMIX SX70/80 etc would be all you’d need.

Hello,

Based on some advice from the people here at UHH I just bought the om-1 with the 12-100 and the 100-400 for a trip to Iceland and Norway later this month.

Very happy with the size and quality

Cheers Daryl

I love my 9-18 and use it a lot hiking in the mountains. I hadn't considered the 12-100 because typically optical qualities suffer with zooms ratios getting bigger than 5 or so, but seeing you and others here recommend it, I have to re-think that. And given OM systems modern approach to computational photography, the 5x zoom limit may be overly restrictive. Anyway I have added to my "want next" lenses list.
