Don Imus (Imus in the Morning) always said that a no hitter was incorrect as the batters who walked did not get the chance to hit the ball in play.
As crazy as that may sound, he had a point, LLOL
From a catcher's perspective, it's pure joy to catch when a pitcher is "on," has great stuff and can hit the spot he's shooting for every time. I went through a season of this when I was 17. The best way that I can describe it is that the times that we got to a full count on a batter I had every confidence in calling for a curve....with a full count. My pitchers never failed to hit the outside of the plate and the batters never expected the pitch and were called out looking. Some tv journalist needs to interview the catcher of this game.

Thanks for the link, Linda. They didn't even touch on his "stuff" until the very end, and then very briefly. I know a perfect game, even a no-hitter, requires a lot of luck, but it usually requires a pitcher that has unusual command of his pitches. I think that was alluded to somewhat, but I would like to have heard more about that than what their feelings were.
As I recall, I caught one no-hitter. It was in the 10 and under league and the pitcher was Tony DeLaRosa. He definitely had command of his pitches, including a curve ball. I DO remember thinking that he just might do it as the innings progressed because none of the hitters were having any luck against him. It was a lot of fun.
I saw a movie the other night and it asked the question of what was a person's "Rosebud," or his happy place growing up, referencing Citizen Kane. Mine? Baseball. That isn't to say that I didn't have wonderful parents. In fact, it was my Dad who introduced me to baseball when I was seven.
With all due respect, and props to German, and as a 71 year old New Yorker Yankee fan since the dark ages, the Yankees suck!
We look great against teams at or near the bottom of their division, those above us, we suck.
Have a nice day.
And the Yankees have 4 of the 24.

But that's not the story here.
Yankee pitcher Domingo German who gave up 17 runs, 15 earned in his last two starts in less than 6 total innings pitched, became part of baseball history tonight by pitching a PERFECT GAME!
27 batters faced, 27 retired, with 9 strikeouts and only going to 3 balls on 2 batters, retiring both.
The game ended less than 2 minutes ago.
It was the 24th perfect game in major league history and the first since 2012.
