Pat F!

Having a website such as Fine Art America is just one component for selling your images!

My buddy, Chris Lord, an expat from UK and a former chef has seen success but he spends a bit of time promoting himself:

He has his own websites: <https://www.pixielatedpixels.com> and <https://chrislord.nyc/>

He has A Fine Art America site: <https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/chris-lord>

He's on Saatchi Art: <https://www.saatchiart.com/chrislord>

He's on Linked In: <https://www.linkedin.com/in/pixielatedpixels/>

He posts on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr, Behance, Besttopphotographer, Imagekind, Amazon, Displate,
iCanvas, Twitter, eBay, etc, etc.

He co-hosts a photography Meetup group in NYC, attends other Meetups such as mine, and travels to Iceland, Thailand, and numerous other locations. He has been interviewed for YouTube. On and on, he keeps promoting himself.

There are billions of websites. If you build it, will people come? Maybe by accident! Check him out on Google and other search engines. As others have said, it will take a while to build a clientele.

Are you prolific and do you have a variety of subjects and a style that's saleable?

And Chris Lord is a great guy and photographer! Be well! Ed

If you want to make money from selling prints, the best way is to get a real Gallery to represent you, because while other services can list your work, you are there with thousands of other folks hoping for a hit.
If a gallery believes in your work they will show it and promote it. You will need a print portfolio of a body of work to meet with Galleries. There are Galleries/ services that specialize in "corporate art" as well.

As others have said, FineArtAmerica is a good place to show your photos. I also use RedBubble & have mad many sales from that site. Lots & lots of competition on FAA.

These are excellent ideas, but, just for giggles, let me toss this out. If you have something outstanding, frame it and make a deal with a good restaurant. Put a good price on it and take bids leave it on display for as long as a month if you like. Give the restaurant owner a cut and leave your card out with your "site" if you like. I have made as much as 900.00 on some of those sales.

Also, with the new generation, they will be able to screen snap your pictures off your site and remove those little signture marks easily. They don't have to buy them if they can copy them and print them for their own use. Robert594 had some great stuff on there. I know about the screen snaps because I had someone do it to me on a wedding job. That was before I learned to really watermark the prints! Stopping to download did not do it.

Blessings

This is why I only uploaded smaller "proof" sized images online (700 or 800 pixels on the long side)... too small to make a print.

I also made my watermark an "ad" and then provided links so they could "take" those proof sized image to whatever social media site they wished. I wanted my images "stolen", because it was free advertising for me.

This was for sports related photos. I'm sure it's different for fine art images.

I just signed on to a service like this. You can display your work, interested buyers can view your work in galleries that you create, select the medium and size, then they fulfill using Bay Photo for prints and another company for merchandise. They do some marketing for you as well.

I ordered a 1/4” lucite print to see how it looked and WOW!!! Could not be happier.

Let me know what you think. I think if I refer you, you get a discount. Happy to do so.
You can check out how it looks at www.Robertl594.com.

I don't know if it's possible, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a service where a photographer can simply upload the images they'd like to sell as prints, and let them handle the rest. Ideally the service would create a page displaying your work, which can be linked to your site as well, and when an order is placed, they handle the entire process, from accepting payment, to printing, to shipping. Of course they would keep a significant portion of the proceeds, but the convenience of not having to do more than simply upload an image, certainly has value in my opinion. Does this type of service exist, or am I just dreaming?
