Nikon 80-200 2.8 vs. Nikon 70-200 2.8
https://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/80-200mm-history.htmI like the glass in the 80-200 better, it’s a bit smaller and lighter. Technically the 70-200 is faster in getting the focus done and I programmed the buttons on the lens. I jump between group and dynamic focus on the lens.
The 70-200 on a 3400 the IS don’t function properly, on 7100 I never tried it, on the 810 it’s good.
The 70-200 on a higher end body makes sense but would I use it on a 7100 not really. On the 7100 I would stick with the 80-200.
I agree 100% with Larry!! I have an 80-200 and it's a slow, clunky, barely use-able lens, compared to the outstanding 70-200. IQ is better, focus is better, handling is better, IT is a much better lens all-together! I use mine on a D500 and a D850!
