I loved that road! And I have nearly the identical picture of the tree.
Thanks for the tour. Years ago I lived in Billings, MT and tried to make that drive each spring the weekend after the the Beartooth switchbacks were cleared for the summer driving season. The scenery is truly spectacular and worth a detour to make the drive. My wife and I appreciated seeing the well-remembered scenery and I copied some of the images for future memories. Thanks again, John

Well, Doug, at least you got to go once. Real bummer in the other instances.

Thanks for the sympathy! The one time we did make it, we did both ways in one day. The south side was spectacular right before/at/after sunset! And saw a very bushy tailed red fox there as well. We were staying at Cooke City. Last year I started asking when we 1st arrived at the park entrance. Who knows, may get another chance sooner or later.
I said all that for everyone else's benefit. Try to go at the proper season. Mid to late summer!

Does AAA service that area? Just wondering.
You know, that's a good question. Thanks for looking in.

Thanks for the visit. I had several shots of that scene. I picked the one with the tree...it needed the recognition.

That's terrific, John. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the shots.

FOR SURE, A Great Road.
Eight of us from New Zealand did it back in 1996 on the way to the Sturgis Bike Rally.
Shipped the Harleys over.

There's another thing, too, that folks should think about. If you're leaving from Cooke City, you might try and schedule an afternoon ride so that the sun is at your back. Conversely, if you're leaving from Red Lodge of thereabouts, leave in the A.M.

I'm glad your group got to do it. But you've made me feel real guilty. I never took my bike out there because I didn't want to mess with getting it there from Florida. But you Kiwis are a tough bunch.
Thank you. It's kind of hard to take a bad picture on the Bear Tooth.

We did it from Red Lodge and the road was closed but we got some fantastic views and had fun killing time when we were in the area.
