We will be making a road trip to North Dakota to fish on Lake Sakakawea. Will be camping at Tobacco Gardens then to Skunk Bay in North Dakota. Then plan on following the Missouri River down to South Dakota. We have already been thru the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Sturgis, Deadwood and the Black Hills areas. Not sure if we will come back home by Dupree or go all the way down and come back via I-90.
Within the circled area - what are your favorite places, must see's and best places to fish along the Missouri River, off the beaten path neat things to see? Anything to watch out for and avoid? Best places to camp? We don't have to be back home till Mid September....lol so we have lots of time!
Appreciate the help!

We had a great time in the badlands of ND a few years ago. I can't tell from your map but that may be west of your circle.

You bet I will on both counts...having fun and posting pics!
No trip to South Dakota is complete without a stop in Wall at Wall Drugs. Any way that is what we were told. We liked the corn palace better.

Already been to Wall, thought it was just more of a tourist trap than anything. Looking more for things that are outdoors like hiking, canyons, historic sites. Stores an shopping are not my thing.
Devils Tower is not too far out of the way

Thanks but already been to Wall, thought it was just more of a tourist trap than anything. Looking more for things that are outdoors like hiking, canyons, historic sites within the circled area.
I have been traveling and just catching up on UHH.
After your fishing at the Lake, you might want to head west to Theodore Roosevelt National Park and then head south through the Bad Lands, etc.
