Aardvark,
Thanks for the many great suggestions and your pictures were impressive. I'll certainly be chasing some of your suggestions.
Be Happy!

Thanks Bob. The lupines were taken on the road from Franconia to Sugar Hill. There's a popular field on the right. There will be cars there so you can't miss it.
The landscapes were taken from Sunset Hill in Sugar Hill.
The first waterfall is Sabbady Falls on Kancamagus Highway.
The second is at The Basin right off 93 south of Franconia Notch.
Good luck

Unless you have or hire a chauffeur, and you're into photography, forget driving a private car. There are pull-offs, but the entire trip is scenic. The Mount Washington cog railway or the auto-road tour van are far better options.

And be sure to check the weather, it's often foggy in the extreme.

Also the Kancamagus Highway is most famous for fall foliage, but offers plenty of great photo opportunities in the other seasons -- including a covered bridge and four waterfalls.

There is one White Mountains photo guide I'm aware of, but it's oriented towards the fall leaf season.

MDI Mainer, thanks for the wealth of info. I have the book "Waterfall of the White Mountains" and is one of my traveling companions. I'll study your other suggestions as well.

The route from Mt Washington to Conway is beautiful, and goes on into Maine, Naples has a stern wheeler boat ride, nice area, Freedom Cafe is good place to eat. We've done that trip, BTW it gets very cold at the top of Mt. Washington, take a jacket!

Thanks again Bob

I recommend Ellis Falls in the Pinkham Notch region. One of the best.

There is a road that goes from Bartlett to the Kancamagus which has some good turnoffs looking at Mt. Washington. Attached is my amateur shot from 2 yrs ago. Would recommend going on to Lincoln, up through Franconia Notch/Cannon Mt and back to Bartlett. Enjoy. We'll be up there in Jackson in several weeks.

Living in N.H. until I was 18 and returning almost every year for 50+ years to visit family, I can agree completely with all the above comments. There is no place traveling throughout the state that does not offer photo options.
Have fun wherever you go, read your tourist guides and fill your camera full of New Hampshire beauty.

Definitely! There is also a car ride to the top. Either way, everyone who visits that area should go to the top. Unfortunately, The Old Man of the Mountain has fallen apart.

Note that of you do not want to take the cog railroad, you can take a van tour to the top. You do not have to drive your own car.

It's not a water fall, but if you take a ride up I 93 from the lake check out Cannon Mountain in Franconia. They have a nice Tram that takes you up to the top. It's a million dollar view from the top on a clear day.

However, the state has established a park devoted to the Old Man and even has a way to look at where the profile was with "to scale" metal cutouts so you can see what it was like. As to the cog railroad, it's definitely worth the price of a ticket and there is plenty of time to look around... hopefully, it will be a clear day or all you might see is the tops of the clouds as you look down....

...and, if you do the Kan.... Highway, be sure to stop at one of the pullovers and go down to the river to wade or, depending on the spot, sit on rocks and dangle feet in the clear water. And...try to get to some of the villages, such as Conway, on a weekday. Weekends are too crowded with "flatlanders," as we used to call them. *Yes, I grew up on the edge of the White Mountains, overlooking the Connecticut River valley (which is also worth a drive).

Yes that is super, as is the car drive up and down Mt. Washington, but that car drive can be a bit scary for the faint of heart. Spectacular views, did it.

Cheers and best to you.
