This is a focused stacked image of a green bottle fly's face staged with a 5X magnification Nikon TM Measuring Microscope objective as the optic for the camera.
With warm weather comes flies and with flies comes an abundant opportunity for various focus stacking sessions.
Just awesome. I'm curious. How long does it takes you to produce this image?

Clemente21, Thanks for asking. It takes a bit of time to get something small into the desired position when viewing it under magnification and to set up the illumination and diffusion for each specimen is a bit different in its brightness and the way it reflects light back to the camera.
Once those are done, the camera is focused on a starting point and then advanced to an ending point. The depth of field is ever so shallow that only a tip of a hair may be in focus at the starting point.
Taking the stack of images for this fly took 15 minutes to take the stack of images. Processing the 178 images to produce the final image took 20+ minutes of computer processing time.

Thanks, CWS. I've learned quite a bit about flies and kissing them would not be a good idea.
