One of my favorite cars of all time, though I never drove one. In 1957 I thought the wrap-around taillights were epic. This was seen several years ago at an RV park in Tucson. We are no longer RVers, so we won't be going back there again.

I'm there with you. They were (are) gorgeous. I was 8 when they were introduced and they were so far ahead, in design, of the '56 Mercury. The '57 Turnpike Cruiser was even more over the top with the opening and closing rear window and the continental kit and the tons of chrome... This one, in particular, is a beauty. Straight as an arrow. Nice catch Terry.

I was always a Chevy guy growing up but there 2 Mercury models that I ranked very high against there competition of the time. One was the 1954 and the other was the 1957. The'54 was by far the best looking of any of them that year. The '57 was strikingly different from its competition that year and I liked it a lot.

When I was young, about 8, my dad had a '58 Mercury Monterey.

I was 14 in '57, and all I could think about was getting my own car. There were so many I wanted, but no money for any of them...

That's the reason I had scrapbooks of car ads from the newspapers and tons of model cars .

I started cutting cars out of magazines when I was 4 or 5 years old. I kept them in a drawer in the living room and I would take them out and spread them all over the floor and "drive" them around. I could name any car and its year and model better than the adults back then. Today, I don't get all the '40s right anymore and modern cars all look like they were designed by the same computer algorithm, but I'm still pretty good with the '50s.

My first car was a ‘64 Mercury Monterey. Still had some of that classic styling and the coolest reverse sloped rear power window. Passed it on to my Grandfather when his car got totaled and I ended up with a ‘65 Mercury.
