I saw the Stones, standing front-center, in 1968. $75.00.

This coming from a man that makes 1million dollars a month.

I love the groups and would love to see many of them, but the prices are just gouging the public.

I try to avoid shows and venues that Ticketmaster controls. Inflated prices and 30% 'fees' is outrageous.

When I was dating my wife, I bought a pair of shoes and received two free tickets to the Jones Beach Marine Theater. We arrived and were "pointed" to our seats on the top row. There were quite a few people up there with us, but not very many below us. My wife said to the group, "I guess a lot of us bought new shoes."

Ther picture below is generic - not mine.

John Oliver's income is irrelevant. Everyone you see on TV makes an obscene amount of money. It is the content of the piece he did on Ticketmaster that matters. They are goughing anyone who uses them to buy concert tickets. That was the entire point of posting that link to his show.

I saw the Stones in 1966 at the Hollywood Bowl. Three of my friends and I climbed over a wall to get in. Actually, the one guy at the bottom we couldn’t pull up.

There was so much pot permeating the air that we got high just standing there! Amazing concert.

Ticketmaster's methods have been adopted by venues TMaster doesn't control. Maybe not 30% fees but higher than before. And TMasters evil child, LiveNation. I am lucky to live near the Musical Instrument Museum, and their 300 seat theater, that TMaster isn't [b[yet[/b] part of.

I'm paying my friend $114 for a front row ticket to a Buddy Guy performance on Thursday. I looked on the site, and Big Thief will be playing there soon. Tickets are $652 for center orchestra seats. That boggles my mind. That's $1,304 before the "convenience fee" for a couple to attend.

I'm glad that when I was younger, I could call on the phone and get tickets to a Broadway show for a decent price. We'd drive down after work, see the play, and drive home. We would go almost every month. Now, you're lucky if you can get a ticket for $100.

I just looked - $347 for what used to cost me $25 in the 1970s. And don't say it's inflation! The cost wasn't even a consideration back then; now, it's a joke.
I'm paying my friend $114 for a front row ticket t... (show quote)

Way back in 1979, I had just started a new job, had two kids under three years of age and had moved from PA to NC. I attended a show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I do not recall the cost of the ticket. I picked up a couple rolls of film and a special processing envelope to push the processing so I could photograph without a flash. In all I probably spent less than $50, if that much. The show as to see Red Skelton on stage. My seat was in the center of row three in front of the Orchestra pit. What a show that was. I'm not sure if I could find the photos from that show but I know I took a bunch. I've moved five times since then and "stuff" gets re-arranged and sometimes lost in the shuffle.

I took my wife and daughter to see Elvis Presley in the 60s in SanBernardino Ca. I paid less than $100 for all three tickets and good seats as well.

1972, local Armory, sitting on floor, 5.00 tickets , 15 ft. from stage... Dark Side of Moon just released, Sounds started moving around the armory 4 corners, darkened stage started rising out of smoke and dim lights, " Breathe " started playing at ever increasing volume, A truly mystical experience.... ( You did not need Psychedelics for this experience ).
