A squirrel tail of a different color

I had never seen one with a white tail. I've had a few people tell me that they have. The house I grew up in backed up to a nature area we had a bumper crop of squirrels every year but I never saw one like this one.

There is a town in SW Missouri (Marionville) that has a big population of all white Squirrels

Kent State is known for their black squirrels.

There is an area on the north rim of the Grand Canyon where you can see the Kaibob squirrel. It's not easy to get there but the squirrels are black with a bright white tail. They are also pretty rare but when you get into their territory and you'll start to see them running around.

It's called the White Tailed Squirrel (oddly enough)...and is native to North America.

First one was noted around 300 years ago.
