I just love taking those family group photos.
As many of you already know by now, I have a fairly warped sense of humour. I like to show this through my photography.
Being the "official" photographer at this Christmas party last weekend, I had to take the obligatory family photos.
I don't even know why I brought my camera to this one because it seems that every one and their uncle (literally) had a P&S on them and were taking pictures. There was even a Canon T1i floating around.
Anyway, it was I that was setting up these family shots and each and every time, some on would yell just as I was getting ready to snap, "Hey guys! Look over here!" and the people would look at good "ol Bob with his P&S.
Now then, the first couple of pics that I took were just to set up the white balance and for some reason, were a bit out of focus. The final shots were good though.
Notice that even on my good shots, a couple of people looked the other way just to see if anyone else was shooting. I was lucky to get what I got.
I did not get upset. I actually thought it was funny. No Christmas card photos out of this batch.
Good set, dont you just hate it When someone looks away.

I just had to go with the flow, I guess.

I have done some weddings just like this.:) Not much you can do. Just be patient and wait for the shot. You did very good. :)

I really did not care. We all had fun. I would probably be annoyed if I were shooting a wedding and getting paid for it.

They were so easily confused.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I loath taking group shots. Any more than three or four people and I quickly lose interest.
The focus stealers are bad enough. Then you have the few who can't stop talking and it looks bad in the pictures. There are those who always seem to have their eyes closed in every shot. My wife does both.
For some reason, large groups always seem to call on me right after I've decided to switch to my 35mm 1.8.
I would just pretend to take the shot, but then someone always wants to see....
You certainly had their attention in #6. I really like #8.

I was thinking of you when putting this post together because I already knew you hated doing these, especially with other cameras around. Thanks for looking. I think #8 was the best of the bunch. Lol.
I love taking groups--someone always doing something to make it "special"---then I show ALL & everyone gets to laugh ! I do a lot of Shutterfly books (hardly ever print photos anymore) so when this happens, I use them all and people seems to enjoy the craziness !
Just wondering what is on her behind (tag?) in the last shot!
I like the first one and that is the one that would go on the Christmas card. :) Just because that is the way I am.
I think you did a great job, posses are natural and everyone is having fun isn't that what it's all about

Ha! You don't know these people. They don't need any wine to be this way. Lol.

I hear that some people get all bent out of shape when trying to take a group photo. Not me! It is all in the spirit of the moment. As for the tag, when every one walks through the door, they get a tag with a Christmas theme written on it slapped on their back. Then they have to guess what it is. When they finally guess it, the tag goes on the front. In her case, it ended up there some how. Lol.
