I was thinking of purchasing a rokinon 14mm 2.8 lens for wide angle pics.It is in my price range, does anyone out there want to give me your thoughts on this lens, I checked u- tube out and the reviews were not to bad.
I have the Samyang ....it's the same lens. I love it. I mostly use it for star photography. Can't beat the price.
Sony a9 Samyang 14mm f2.8
Great image, ORpilot! I'm also looking for a wide-angle for my Nikon Df. What is the price of the Samyang lens?

I have seen both the Samyang and Rokinon 14mm f2.8 manual focus for as low as $100 used to $400 new.

I think the Df is a crop sensor so you should look at the 10mm or 12 mm lens vs the 14mm

What are you wanting to do with it? And what camera do you have? 14mm f/2.8 is a very convenient lens for night sky on a full frame camera, but a little long for that on a crop frame camera (21 mm equivalent or so). What do reviewers say about the corners? Night sky needs good corners. Assembling panoramas in any genre needs good edges and corners. Not usually a problem with full frame lenses on crop sensor cameras, of course.

The Df is a full-frame DSLR. I bought it because I don't do videos and it works great with my old film lenses.

I bought mine for the same reasons.

I've had my eye on this lens for a while as I love what you can do with the unique perspective you can get with ultra-wide lenses.
I used to shoot with a Sigma 15-30mm zoom on my F100 pretty much exclusively at 15mm. That particular lens had a pretty noisy AF and I eventually sold it.
Of course this lens is manual focus although they do have an autofocus version available for about 75% more money. I don't see the manual focus being much of a disadvantage as a 14mm lens will have an incredible depth of field.
MPB prices have come down for this lens to $179 for excellent condition for the one with the AE chip for Nikon. Without the chip you can get one for less, but the chipped version makes for an easier shooting experience.
They currently have one available.
That 14/2.8 will not fit front filters. I use the Laowa 15/4.0 which fits 77mm filters. (FWIW, Im also using an 11mm FF that fits front filters.)

I bought a second hand Rokinon 14mm f/2.8. It’s a fabulous lens for Astro photography, which is mainly why I use it. Could not be happier.
