New York and California lost a combined $92 billion in income as rich Americans escaped to other states, because of high taxes and crime.
Did you know that St. Louis Mo. with a Republican Governor, is one of the 10 most dangerous cities in the world ...

Actually they do .... they lower taxes which means that local governments can not provide the services necessary to maintain an effective social safety net .... that is, throughout history, how revolutions start and autocracy begins ...

I think you left out something very relevant. Can you guess what it is?

Sure whatever you say. In reality, governors have very little control over mayors. They set their own policies and budgets. Mayors are elected locally, not statewide, so they serve at the behest of their voters. No governor that I know of can just fire a mayor unless convicted of a crime.

No not every state operates like New Jersey where local communities depend on state largess. Wrong as usual

”. . . I also find the the states that are pushing for highly restrictive abortion rules have the worst record for infant and maternal mortality - here they are by red or blue states.
Here are the 10 states with the highest infant mortality:

It seems it is ok to restrict abortions, but these states are often the worse for care of mothers and children.
Both parties have dirty hands if you look hard enough. It may be why the number of Independents grows every year.”That assertion is not absolute — some democrat-controlled states have a distinctly elevated infant death rate (IDR).In the World:“The under-five mortality rate (U5MR) is the number of deaths of infants and children under five years old per 1000 live births. The under-five mortality rate for the world is 39 deaths according to the World Bank and the World Health Organization (WHO).”[

With an infant death rate of 6.3 per 1000 live births (~2018 data); Of 193 world countries:
The United States ranks number 49 among the LOWEST infant death rate (IDR). So the U.S. is number 49 out of 193 countries. Only 48 countries have a lower IDR!
Put another way: the United States ranks number 145 down the list of 193 countries for the HIGHEST infant death rate.
As of 2023, the U.S. IDR had declined to 5.48 (see next reference).~~~~~
In the United States:”The infant mortality rate for U.S. in 2022 was 5.547 deaths per 1000 live births, a 1.19% decline from 2021. The infant mortality rate for U.S. in 2021 was 5.614 deaths per 1000 live births, a 1.18% decline from 2020.”[

I completely agree that both parties have their lying, corrupt and inept members of Congress. But you may have noticed the difference between Left and Right constituents is this. Right Wingers are only too happy to have their politicians be arrested and go to prison IF they are guilty. The Left Wingers double down on protecting their own politicians as evidenced by the accusations toward the Clintons, Bidens, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch and a host of others. I have never seen anyone here in The Attic call for the investigation of any of those people or anyone else on their side of the aisle even when there is more than enough evidence to bring charges.
As for your post on abortions Vs medical care of mothers and babies I fail to see the correlation. Of course the care should be improved in those states where it does not come up to standards but show me how the abortion numbers have any impact on medical care.

I do not think he CAN draw a direct correlation. What would be a more interesting would be an investigation of the crime rate decrease caused by abortion of offspring due to cases of rape, incest and other sexual abuse.
A quick view of national crime statistics data appears to indicate a decrease in sex-related crimes as more states approved abortions for cases of rape and incest. If an offenders’ progeny are aborted, the genetic makeup that promotes sexual violence will be curtailed.
In support of this hypothesis:
A greater number of abortions (%) of sex/violence offenders causes a lesser number of offending individuals (%) in future generations A PREDICTION is: there are fewer cases of rape, incest and sexual crimes in subsequent generations. (With a high correlation coefficient). (I do not have the data to prove this hypothesis: I am continuing to investigate. So no links or data as yet.)

I think a lot depends on what you are looking for. Both states are a mess. The Dems currently have a nightmare at the Southern border and historically who can forget LBJ and Vietnam or Hilary with Bengazi.
But the Republicans have their issues as well. Recently convincing many that the 2020 election was rigged, with their leading candidate for 2024 selling the same old story. Historically the 2nd invasion of Iraq - we are still looking for WMD. St. Louis MO is Very liberal, 81.9% of the people voted Democrat in the last presidential election.
Democrat voters also elected politicians that made St. Lois Mo one of the 10 most dangerous cities in the world.
