Yeap, I remember the days when I could run. Knee problems came on almost overnight, no warning. One day I could run, the next barely walk, and I don't necessarily recommend knee replacements. In many ways it made the problem worse, not better. But as I told the doctor, I want functionality, not freedom from pain. Well, I got freedom from pain, but not functionality, at least not good functionality. Well, what can you do?
My wife the former surgical nurse will tell you that it depends on the doctor. She got to the point that she needed both of hers replaced the pain was so bad. She knew who to go to and had both replaced at the same time so she wouldn't lose her job. That was 2007. She's done great ever since. Stairs have been some problem for her, but they just slow her down. Otherwise, she has great function without pain. My Mom, on the other hand, was not so fortunate. My wife tried to get her to see the doctor here about her pain but she wouldn't do it. My Mom could be stubborn. However, you must understand my Mom. Her biggest complaint was that she could no longer get down on her knees to scrub the kitchen floor.
