The extracted Apple slices image was added to the layer's pallet along with the background image, vase,stems etc. I then Duplicated the Apple slices image 3 more times to put them on a separate layer. Next I just used the Move tool to slide them into place. I scaled down each apple slice image along with the Warp feature to position them in place.

I love the idea in #1, and I think it deserves color due to the creative presentation. Love your creative thinking.
