I love the challenge of photographing birds in the wild. I look for patterns, activity, natural settings etc. to bring the birds alive in the photograph. Here are a few of my favorites.
Even while I was laying down on the ground, this suspicious Burrowing Owl kept its peepers on me the whole time. I loved the yellow eyes.
Photographed at the Salton Sea in California, these Cormorants provided, for me, a humorous pose that I titled "One of these things is not like the others!" I also photographed them in color but found the B&W much more appealing.
A Hooded Merganser (female) enjoys a small snack on a pond in a State Park in Yucaipa, California
A Kestrel at sundown struck a pose for this photo. Having gone to the San Jacinto Wildlife Area a number of times, I and others have learned how to identify specific birds...we named this one Sue.
Rounding a corner, we surprised a Merlin that was feeding on another bird.
A Ruby-crowned Kinglet searching for insects. Photographed in a park near Corona, California
"Seeing Double". I was pleasantly surprised when after flying in, these waders lined up perfectly for the shot
With a low sun, the light hit the feathers of this White-faced Ibis so that they were near-iridescent. I like the colors when the light is right

Really nice set of photos! White Faced Ibis is almost identical to the Glossy Ibis of the eastern US!
