I posted two "trumpet" playlists this morning. In the first playlist, (https://youtu.be/8z9y1PQCXho), towards the bottom, the track, "Everything happens to me", I challenge anyone to name the trumpet player/singer). To see the individual tracks, click on "show more"
Is there a prize? Of course - you get bragging rights! Now I immediately knew, but I'm a bit crazy, old! and a die hard fan of trumpet players for over 70 years.

I haven't heard the clip, but on the basis of your description I'd guess that it's the subject of the documentary "Let's Get Lost." His recording of "Everything Happens to Me" is a great example of his ballad approach.

Ok. The artist is not very well know. Here's a hint: He was frequently featured on the Merv Griffin show and a member of the stage band. Here they go - running to Google!
