just bought canon T3i which is my first DSLR I am a beginner and tryin to learn how to shoot in creative modes.

OK Here's what I like about your duck.
The color is fantastic. You captured his iradecent colors perfectly.
You have the shutter set so that you catch the water as it really is.
Your focus is dead on. Sharp
I like the composition, I think you hit the rule of thirds close
enough for this shot.
OK, Now what i don't like about this shot:
Ummmm, the .... isn't exactly right and then of course there is always the.....which of off and don't forget the .... is wrong to.
Other than that it's a great photo. It belongs on your wall!!

Hi and welcome. nice clean sharp shot. Top left hand corner could do with cloning out (rather than cropping which might ruin composition). Nice you gave him more room in front than behind gives him somewhere to swim into maybe next time give him a little more room. Next try setting apperture priority, set an aperature and the camera will set the shutter speed. with the picture you have taken you cold set your app wide open, focous on the eyes and press the shutter. What you would be aiming for is the ducks head sharp focous and the water going a little soft. Next step set to manual, set an aperature. adjust shutter speed till the index marker in the viewfinder is central, press the shutter, view the result if slightly dark use a slower speed, if light use faster speed.
