Not with apples to apples.
You can take your best zoom and put it against the best primes...in the same focal length...prime will win....99% of the time.
Now if Nikon had announced these lenses you and most of UHH would be worshipping them.
Why would Nikon announce a new Canon Lens?

A bit dense aren't you today?
That is not what was said and you know it.
I think it'll be interesting to see how Canon's strategy works out. From a sharpness standpoint, a given generation of prime is typically sharper than a zoom, but as technology progresses the differences have gotten pretty (negligibly?) small. The zooms will certainly be more versatile, but they'll also certainly be heavier and more expensive. There will be many who like these offerings, but there will be some for whom the price and/or weight will be to much.

Of course I knew it. Most of these discussions are more about humor that anything else.
Fifty years ago you probably, mistakenly, argued that Ford was better than Chevy.

To improve on it! 😜🤪
I don't agree about worshiping the new lenses if they had been announced by Nikon.
I have ordered the Nikon 4002.8Z. Unfortunately I'm having difficulty getting it because demand has outpaced supply. It has a switch for a built in 1.4 tc that converts it to 560f4. Although the rest of my lenses are all zooms that particular combination fits my shooting style perfectly so I have no need for an equivalent zoom. After looking at both I chose the 400 2.8 over both the older Nikon 120-300 2.8 zoom and the Sigma equivalent.
I agree that in many cases zooms have tremendous advantages over prime lenses, and I am often willing to give up a small amount of image quality for flexibility, but there is still a time and a place for primes.
