I have one cat. He goes through a 30 lb bag of litter in about 2 weeks. As he gets older (now 18) he cycles more water through him, and that uses more litter. My wife is sensitive to odors so the box gets cleaned twice a day or more.

So I would guess the cat is much older or there are 3-4 of them.

OR, it's a VERY active cat and a lot of the litter ends up outside the box and gets vacuumed up.

And, at my age, a 30 lb bag is manageable, but the closest Walmart only sells it in 50 lb bags. I have to use a dolly to get it into the apartment, or pick a different Walmart. I prefer the bags to the plastic buckets because the bags are useful to collect trash after the litter is emptied. Plastic buckets are more of a hassle to dispose of.

There are 16 cats here. There were 23 but some have crossed Rainbow Bridge and I'm not adopting any more. I know my time on this earth will be up someday and I don't want my executrix to have to find homes for a large amount of cats. The youngest is 2 and the oldest is at least 17; most of my cats were adopted from the local pound.

I order my litter from Chewy. No shipping on orders over $49 and it comes right to my door. No traveling to Walmart, no loading and unloading and moving it several times.

"Overworked" is not an excuse for incompetency.

I live in a basement apartment so my front door is the garage. I provided Amazon the instructions to deliver my packages there but the adherence to my instructions is a coin toss. I tried operant conditioning by providing positive feedback when they followed the instruction and negative feedback when they didn't. It did not work. I have come to the conclusion that the problem is not with the drivers but it is with their schedules for delivery which does not allow anything but their having to establish a routine; deliver to the porch period.

I am retired so what I have done to resolve the problem by always scheduling the delivery time and day to those days that I am home. I also have started to use the Amazon online delivery mapping option so that I can visualize where they are, how close they are in distance, and where I stand in how many deliveries are ahead of me. That way I can stand outside when it is a nice day so that I can personally instruct them as to where to deliver the packages. In bad weather I simply stand in the garage with the door open and watch for them there. I have to put in some extra effort to choose the day of delivery that will work for me which means that I cannot always choose the fastest delivery time but the benefit of not having to carry heavy packages down a steep staircase is priceless.

Often it takes as much work to do the job wrong as it takes to do it right.

Neither. They just don't care. They have to deliver everything in their truck before they can check out for the day. So waiting for a signature or being careful with your package slows them down.

In my case they don’t always come on the day that I’ve told they would come. Often, my deliveries are a day early and unexpected.
