This thread is hilarious... Won't be long before someone will post WHY do you use a DSLR ? Because I want to Jethro, and enjoy it !

Im not unsympathetic to SLR users and film cultists. I sincerely pity them.

Absolutely beautiful color in those shots. Almost looks like Kodachrome, if that were available.

That's right. Leaders shoot in RAW on digital mirrorless cameras, then process with Adobe software. What else is there to discuss?

I’m not very big on RAW. As for Adobe, I never played with that editor. Just call me a dinosaur.

Perhaps I can climb aboard and visit you in the Windy City!! LOL

Wondering how many of those archival film recorded wedding albums have outlasted the resulting marriages ...

I know of a couple who got divorced before the photographer delivered their wedding album. I heard of a guy who wanted a reshoot of his wedding after he and his wife divorced.

I use film because I enjoy it.
Film and digital are two similar but different media. I can accomplish things with film I can't with digital and vice versa.

It may surprise some but film is digital and digital is analog. Additionally, I have a couple of cameras that shoot both film and digital.

I expect the answers would not differ from whatever answers you received from your last post, regarding film use. Or are you expecting things to suddenly be different now?

Check Freestyle.com in LA. They have all kinds of film. Also, Nico's Photo News from Finland
and Lucy Lumens from Australia on You Tube just to name a couple. The thing about shooting
with film is planning your shots. Too costly to spray and pray.

Back in the day, you could spray and pray. Best of all, for an price you could sell the negatives. It was a big savings on me as I didn’t have to store them

Why do people still drive old classic cars?

Film is NOT coming back. Same with vinyl records. Neither has completely gone away but they’re niche products. Occasionally they’ll have a slight surge but never enough to make them more than niche products.

Digital photos are clinical, sterile even. One cannot get such precision with film, and that is a good thing.

You are probably correct about that. It’s expensive…..but I still cherish the thoughts and darkroom routine, (that could last from 9 a.m. till long after the sun set) and the janitors wanted to come in and clean up the room.

Our local high school never stopped teaching B&W film photography as an art elective. The class is always full. Two of my sons took it and the third will next year. I still have and use quite a few film cameras from the '50's-'80's, and will be trying out a 1902 era 5x7 Graphlex I found in the basement. Just like the whole concept of capturing/processing images the analog way. Beseler 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 enlarger, El Nikkor lenses, still set up downstairs by the washing machine...

Digital doesn’t have to be clinical and sterile. That’s up to the photographer.

Although seemingly a repeat of a similar March 2023 thread, the rerun of this topic is somewhat timely. Of people sharing images onto UHH, I probably shoot as much film as any of the UHH community. Just this morning I finally put together a post of selected images from last summer's Race to Mac, all shot on film: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-774761-1.html

For cost, I shoot almost exclusively expired film. The post linked above is all color film, all expired / discontinued stocks with dates from 2001-2004. I'm not interested in self-processing, so these rolls are professionally processed and scanned to relatively high resolution (17MP) JPEGs, then processed in Adobe Lightroom.

Personally, I sold off all my manual focus film bodies almost a decade ago. The cost of film is too high for out of focus results, especially when I can share my EF lenses onto an EOS body. Scanning is time consuming, so I pay to have it done along with processing.

To the OP's question of "why", it's really just to do something different, creating something that looks different too. In the case of the Race to Mac above, that was 6-rolls, one an entire waste where some ISO-3200 B&W film just didn't come out with acceptable results. So there's a disappointment, both for the wasted time and money, and the lost documentation of a section of the event.

For those interested in film, getting (re)started or discussing techniques / film stocks, we have a Film Photography section. Add to your subscription list.

We have a B&W Photography section too, where this is the images, both digital and film. Again, consider visiting and adding the section to your subscription list.
Although seemingly a repeat of a similar March 202... (show quote)

With digital you can recycle the album. Just replace the groom’s head in PS.
