It's a wireless card reader...might be useful.

I have a dozen fast cards...so no need for me.

Same here, I just use a Apple card reader connected to my IPhone to download images or to upload images. Works great.

For 1,000 raw images, you'd need a lot of storage space.

If a picture takes up 30 megabytes, which is the average file size in RAW format photos, a 64gb card can hold approximately 2,184 pictures.

I know the IPhone 14 will take a 48 meg photo but the card still gives you plenty of space.

What is the actual name of the device you're using?

I’m assuming this is what he’s got. I bought one when Ravpower had them. They work like a charm.

I checked the link to Amazon:
1. States it works with Android, but more in passing, everything is about i-devices?
2. Can store at least some raw formats, but they can not be viewed, maybe only non-camera specific?
3. 2 GB version also and one from different maker.
4. Needs ver. 9 or higher of Apple software, Android? I have had a great deal of problems with devices that need Android or Apple software versions my cell phones can't be updated to which is why I am emphasizing this.

I never did the math - not my favorite subject. Your iPhone accepts cards? My Moto and Samsung do, and I find it very convenient.

Yes, I use an Apple USBC SD card reader on my IPhone.

I prefer to not edit while on trips. My solution is to take plenty of cards, some fairly large. I review some occasionally while still in camera.

I use it with my Google Pixel running the latest OS. I also run it from my iPad running 16.4.1. When used for backup, I usually save the BU to a thumb drive or SSD from a SD card.

Memory cards are so inexpensive - just change cards every day or so and you have safely stored your photos. 10days - 5 - 10 cards. easy...

So, what is the device called exactly? From all of the below discussion, it appears that it will transfer raw files. Do you know the size of the device, e.g. 1 terabyte? Lastly, what is the cost?

In September, I am off for a one month vacation/family reunion and I would love (maybe) to leave my computer behind.

Thank you

I posted a few weeks ago re: this issue.

My experience, after 10 days out of the US, is that the New Q device works well to backup photos to a light solid state USB drive.

It also allows one to create a Wi-Fi network between the New Q device and an iPad (or similar I presume). This was my other goal, to review photos on a larger than a camera screen. That worked pretty well also if a JPEG.

I had no time nor interest in editing at nite.

Happy not to have to deal with a laptop. Internet not required. Pretty inexpensive. Light. Simple. Can be used as a battery to charge other devices.

Does other stuff too that I did not need nor explore.

Just my 2c based on my experience.

So there is a Q device, separate drive and iPad and connections.
And how is having 3 devices that need connecting better than a single small laptop with PSE and wireless internet connection?

It is a throughput router basically.
There is no hard drive...this is not a storage device...it is a transfer device.
