Nice set and great story. Hoping the best for the family.

They sure are protective and adorable as well. It will be fun to see the shots you get of the little ones.
Thanks, Cindy! I don't know how long the little ones stay in the nest after hatching. But I'm keeping a close watch on them, without disturbing them. I'm hoping to get some shots before they are gone!

Great find and photos!
Thanks Elliott! They are right out side our window and no one on the eggs for several minutes. It's pretty warm already this morning, so no problem there. But I thought they were switching off, one on the nest for awhile and then the other. I will watch them closely, I hope they haven't abandoned the nest!
Update: Some-one is back on the nest!

We moved back down to Tampa, MacDill Space Force Base to take care of some business that we had put off for too long. We were assigned an RV site and found it already occupied.
WE had to convince the Camp manager that we would be more comfortable in the camp site adjacent to the one assigned.
Chief, really magnificent shooting 🤎🤍🖤🤍🤎
Great set of photos of mom playing injured to keep you from finding her eggs. She should have known that trick doesn't work on crusty retired chiefs.
