My wife did that, inspecting a park. Had to call for a tow. Fortunately, not our car.

Must've been a rough day for her.

Had a partner who did not understand "slow sand". We were in the military service driving the proverbial jeep to check out tank trails. He decided to stop on top of a patch of slow sand, despite my telling him to treat it like snow. He decided to pop the clutch to drive forward. Yep, he sank the rear wheels into the mud. Then, he said, "Well, we have a four wheel drive vehicle." Before I could say anything, he engaged the front wheel drive and popped the clutch. The front end sunk us down to where the jeep was resting on on the chassis. I was not happy with him. I walked over the the Helipads and asked the guard to use his telephone. I was not about to broadcast our situation to the main post. I pulled in a favor from the tank motor pool about getting a wrecker out to us. The only thing available was a tank wrecker. The driver checked out the tank trail and informed me that he would in all likelihood get stuck himself. I got him to toe in with the front, keeping the rear wheels on the road. Had him release the winch cable to its full 300 foot length. It was short by about fifteen feet. Walked back to the wrecker and got a heavy 30 foot chain. Looped it to the end of the winch chain and the tow ring on the jeep. I radioed the wrecker driver to engage. The jeep was rescued. As much as I was tempted, I did not leave my partner stranded in the slow sand. But, I did have him handle the hot high pressure water hose to wash off the four inch mud pad under the chassis. The guys at the motor pool had a time with him.

(Note: I just did a google for Slow Sand. I was surprised at the links provided. And at the lack of info on "slow sand".)

I was thinking about that. I know it's in there pretty deep, but I wonder if high pressure water would do the trick?

Flew through the air first before landing in the mud pit for a script enhancement?
