Nice shots of a fantastic vehicle. I had a 64 version way back in the day.

Thank you for the kind compliment Sue Ann. Lucky you, I could only wish for a 1964!

As a long time Vette driver, no longer because of extremely poor vision, this is my fav, though I never owned one.

One of my favorites also Dean. Thank you for your comment. Sorry for your vision problems. At least you did what you liked for a very long time. Getting old is not for sissies! Just turned 75 in February and not liking it.

Saw two of these while shooting at St. Armands on 5/6/2023, a silver one and a black one, here is the silver one.
327 cu / 340 HP
Built - October, 1962
Weight 3,105 lbs.
Original List Price - $5,215.65
Couple Production - 10,594
I offered the guy 30% over sticker price. When I walked away he was still on the ground laughing!
Enjoy

To me ... the '63 Split-Window Corvette and the '57 Chevy Bel Air 2dr hardtop and the 2 most beautiful cars ever made.

Thanks for the photos - I love 'em.

T he guy is probably still laughing about your offer. Maybe he would have considered it if your offer had been multiplied by 50

The reason they quit offering the split window after only one year is that the rear view out of the car was atrociously bad. If you ever sat in one, you'd know what I mean. Chevy got real concerned about liability issues.

I owned a '67 coupe, 427 435 hp , drove it for 2 years and sold it. It was a poor choice for me as it was my only car at the time. If you had the 435 horse option, you could not get AC. I live in Florida. The Summers were unbearable.

Like many folks, in my eyes that '63 split window Vette is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I had a shot at a really nice one 6 years ago for $ 42,000. I passed on it. Who knew that the collector market was going to explode for that car like it has.

The reason they quit offering the split window aft... (show quote)

Knew a guy about 20 years ago who was given total disability by the SSA, and was able to do his own frame-off of a 67 coupe with the engine you mention. He found the build sheet on the gas tank and followed it. All the numbers lined up properly. He had it professionally re-painted yellow and had a stolen dream car! Never heard it's story after that.
