Forgive me if this subject has been covered before. I have been using Snapbridge for GPS tracking with my phone but I would like to move away from Snapbridge to achieve this. Do any of you Hoggers have experience with a hot shoe or other type mount GPS unit you would recommend for a Nikon D850? I'm sure some of you may think Snapbridge is the best thing since sliced bread but I'm finding it's not for me. Thanks in advance.

You might say 'why' snapbridge is not for your?

This thread seems to be the same question in 2020, with a few ideas in the responses:

Two that come to mind are Solmeta, and Foolography. Google them to find out if they’ll do what you want.

I don't care much for games of "I've got a secret". I've already added more help than you've earned from your secret, doing the google and reading you could (should have) done yourself. CU.

I'll have to side with Paul here.

When you make an incomplete statement it is difficult to make suggestions. If you enumerate the reasons that Snapbridge is not for you someone might be able to suggest a way to remedy the problem. Without information everyone is just waving their hands around.

It does matter, because we don't want to recommend something that may have the same things going on.

Paul is very sharp and helpful. But the way you responded, quite frankly is uncalled for.

It's be careful about calling people assholes. It will get you ignored, and no help.

This attitude will get you no where.

It’s hard to believe Nikon did not build GPS into the D850 but that is the case. There are numerous external units that you can use if snapbridge is unsatisfactory for you. Just look on B&H
Also probably not a good idea to ask for help with limited info and then Call Paul an asshole. He’s far from that. Just sayin.

Google snap bridge alternative.

Other than that...
- There is no need to provide more information as to why one does not like something.
- Name calling is never a good idea
- Show of support is just as ridiculous as flaming someone.

News of the day... A car drove through a UPS store we usually go to... I hope it will be repaired when we return in July...
